Leaves are yellowing in the trees and flying gracefully with the wind. Mushrooms pop up from the ground, I've been learning their names, curious little things they are.

My summer job ends next tuesday. It has been mind blowing, time consuming and tiring.
I've gained so much more confidence and I'm not so scared anymore. I've also been pushed forward with my studies in a way I could never have imagined. My interests have completely changed, I will specialise in plant biology from now on. I love animals, but it is not in my interest to go through studies where I would have to hurt them or take their lives in order to learn. And plants, especially trees can be the most interesting things on earth. They give us more than we know, and there is still so much more to learn.

I should have known it was plants all along, when I was little I tried to grow little trees in my room, mostly failing, and it was always me who wanted to have a garden. I had my own favourite trees where I lived as a child, the trees are still special to me. One of them is this huge old aspen, who has offered his shelter for so many different birds from black woodpeckers to goldeneyes. He has been struck by a lightning and part of his foliage is dead because of that, but still he produces the most beautiful leaves which tremble in the wind. Oh, I got distracted by memories.

And now I realise the picture has nothing to do with this ramble of mine, I took it in July, I believe it was already past 10pm and we were driving home with my mum from a birthday party, it was a hilarious trip.

I also really love trees...I find them spiritual and beautiful. So glad to hear of your progress and pushing through fear.

That is so great that you've figured out the area you really want to pursue! Trees are so important to me, as well. I could never live anywhere without a profusion of trees!
